The Elastic Sound and Vision Gallery and AMP-Chi (Artists, Musicians and Poets of Chicago) are pleased to announce this special event on Saturday, October 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Elastic, to celebrate Chicago Artists Month 2010: The City as Studio.
The audience is invited to participate as artists and poets before the music performance that begins at 8 p.m. Canvas, paints and brushes will be available for budding artists of all ages to paint a group picture to be displayed at Elastic. Young Puerto Rican poets from Café con Milk will also perform at 7 p.m.
Well known Chicago percussionist Dushun Mosley leads a band consisting of Yosef Ben Israel (bass), Kirk Brown (piano), Ed Wilkerson (woodwinds), and Taalib-Din Ziyad (vocals) will end the October 23rd evening with an exciting performance. Mr. Mosley is featured on Fred Anderson’s last CD “Made in Chicago” which will be available for purchase.
The events feature artist Alpha Bruton’s Vibration Sound Narration, a projection of images and water color transparencies created in response to the music and poetry.
The cover charge of $10 ($5 for students with i.d.) includes admission to the concert and refreshments. Friendship Restaurant will provide appetizers from their menu. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the group painting and spoken word event. This is an all-ages event.
