What is GBMP
Through the Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (JHCCICS) of Northeastern Illinois University, a virtual "house" would be built. A house that would honor Black artists and groups, a house that would be welcoming to educators, students, and the casually curious. A house built strong enough to withstand the winds of change and the whim of conventional archiving systems.
How it started
In a conversation one day between artists, educators, political activists, historians, and art supporters, was the legitimate concern over "losing" history.
